hiya AirAsia is that cheapest you can get yourself ouit there for around £200, sometimes less if you hit it right.

I am going with cathay pacific my flight was £590, direct. I went through netways i think that was what it was called.

I leave on 22 November and getting all the way to Melbourne for £380 all together with a 3 week stop over in Malaysia.
I was lucky to get my flight to Malaysia when they had just launched the route but I think they're still pretty cheap.

Be careful with Air Asia people.

Their flight prices no longer include airport taxes. Be sure to look at the total price in the right hand side column on the screen.

Its underneath the currency converter.

Air asia has never include airport tax's - even when they are on though youll still get there for a couple of £100 - sweet as - if i was on a very tight budget i'd be flying with them!

Have you checked out STA travel? I just booked a return flight to Brisbane for next week, cost me £745. That's with Emirates. I've also heard that you can book one way next year for as little as £375.

STA Travel are dear!! Stay clear!! I got mugged off big style!!!

They are only a third party booking company so they add their own chunk!

Having said that they do go with good flights I think mine are BA and Qantas so your guarenteed a goodish plan and good service and films plus free drinks etc. But you can still book them cheaper direct.

Maybe if you book a rtw ticket with them but they are the only agent that offers under 26 and student fares. I found trailfinders are pretty good at finding cheap flights but even they quoted me £830 for the same flight that has cost me £745.

Your landlord follows you to oz (and his ticket costs him half the price yours did!)

Air Asia is so cheap isn't it! Pity you can't get direct to Sydney as I was planning heading there first for Oz Intro.
May just go to Brisbane, spend a week or so there, then get a cheap flight through Jetstar to Sydney. Would still work out cheaper than the other airlines I have checked going direct to Sydney.

Anyone planning on leaving end of Feb/March time? I'll be on my lonesome. 27, single, not liking my job, not much to keep me here - time to get out and explore the world & enjoy a once in a lifetime experience with like-minded travellers. Let's do it!

Cheers
Matt

Air Asia are forever playing with how they display their prices. Most other airlines do the same.

They have to comply to different laws in different countries with regards to how they advertise their fares, so you'll notice changes in how the fares are presented on their site depending on where in the world you are. In some countries they have to display the full fare inc taxes on one screen, and in other countries they can add them on a later page in the bookings process. It's one of the reasons they ask you to select your country prior to entering the site. They do seem to be going for consistency across all sites at the moment, though. The current setup is a lot better than it used to be. They used to add the taxes on the very last screen before they prompted you for payment.
