just go on one of those search providers... like moneysupermarket.com etc, and then just browse from there. I went with American Express. As you have to be careful with insurance, if its really really cheap then its probably not covering you for everything, so make sure you read the details carefully.

Hi i've booked with direct-travel.co.uk it's cost me £180 for 12month. It's worldwide exc usa, canada. However you can have a 2 week stopover in say usa and still be covered. It covers you for around 40 activities that don't require an additional premium. They offer cheaper ones if you don't opt for the top cover option as i've done.

If you wan't i could email you the comparison that i've done of around 5 quotes from different companies.

Hope thats of some help

Andy

Google 247 insurance, cheapest by far. Looked at quote last night, cheapest was £97 (for 10 months). When you submit the quote, makesure you type in the promotional code SAVE to get 10% off. I went with these last year, cost me under £60 for 6 months and the policy T&Cs were one of the best I'd seen.

Does anyone know which of these cover you for work while your out there. Work such as farm work, office work bar work etc. I am planning on working and want to make sure I'm covered. Also I'm not an adrenaline junkie so wont be doing skydives/bungees. Maybe some rafting but that would be as much danger as i could handle. Not sure if this would affect the insurance i would need to get.

Admiral cover working. Insure and go you have to pay an extra premium, Direct Line dont cover it. I've read way too many policy documents think im going with admiral. had a look at american express and they dont cover for a year only up to 9 months.

I rang Insure and Go yesterday and was told that the policy covered fruit picking, bar work admin etc. You have to pay an extra premium if you're going to be doing manual work such as using machinery.

Youre not wrong there!

I was all set for admiral but now i might go back to insureandgo! I understood at first that i&g didnt cover manual work when I rang such as farmwork and fruitpicking and that it would be an extra £86 on top of £155 but the customer service rep I had was useless...aggghhhh

You know what I think im still going to choose admiral with a Grade 2 premium as they cover me for skydive, manual labour, sea canoeing, bunji and scuba so the activities I need covered. Aswell as the essential emergency medical treatment and baggage delay. For £170 all in (with the discount offered to me).. I can also return to the UK 3 times if needed without any extra charge..

I should mention that 24/7 do not cover work at all. There isnt a premium you can add for it either its what you see is what you get.

Different people will need different cover im sure 6 of 1 half a dozen of the other and it still looks like admiral is the most suitable for me so I think I should just stop looking and buy it!

Cheers for that, I hadn't actually considered that you should have insurance to cover you for work. I always thought you would be covered by the employer. I know there were several of us who went with 24/7 and none of us would've known! Same as the skydive, bungee etc. are you not covered by the company who you pay to do it? Baffles me because you wouldn't take out your own insurance to go sky diving over here. Or is it just an extra precaution for your own peace of mind rather than a, more or less, essential option?
