Ski Season in Europe - which job is best??? |

| Hello all,
I'm looking into doing a ski season in europe over the 09/10 winter and basically want to know which type of job is best, i.e. which job means the least amount of work and therefore the most amount of time on the slopes?! I've been looking into chalet host jobs but have been told bar jobs give you more time off for the same weekly $$$'s! Anyone done a ski season before have any thoughts/opinions on this? Any advice is more than welcome.  |

Are you gona work for a UK company or just turn up in resort and find a job? You can def get a bar job by doing that but there'll be lots of competition! I did 2 seasons, both in the same hotel, the first season was on the hotel bar and the second was a hotel host. The bar job was great cos I didnt start work til like 3pm every day, but then didnt finish til 1am and had to play catch up in the bars with my mates (what a shame! but not always fun missing out) If you work in a bar in a town then I guess its cool cos youre still with everyone rather than being stuck in a hotel up the hill, Chalet/hotel host is hard work, lots of early mornings and long hours and cleaning (obviously) but then you can be on the slopes 11-5, although there will be day shifts where you cant ski! Hope that helps a bit! |

| Hey,
I would prefer to have a job lined up before I fly over rather than just rocking up at a resort and looking for bar work. I'm not fussed wether I work for a UK based company or a european one. I've worked in a couple of bars in Sydney so have experience and realise competition is fierce. Sounds like the bar job would be good if you can ski/board for a few hours every day before starting work at 3pm. From what your saying chalet host sounds like harder work, with longer hours and early rises! Bar job might be the way to go then! |

| I'd love to be a driver but I'm not old enough for the insurance they need (yet!). Cool job though long as you don't mind all them scary bends | |

| I worked for a well known ski company last winter as a rep, and in that job you get to take people on the slopes regularly (not in a teaching capacity) so you can definitely rack up the slope time that way! | |
