at the risk of asking an obvious question, do you get hayfever round the world? ie, if i get hayfever here in the spring/summer, am i going to need to take meds with me for time spent in Asia, Australasia and S.America? Guess grass is grass wherever you are, right?

Should be alright on the beaches but i'm wondering about time spent inland..

cheers!

It will depend on the pollen count in the areas you are going to, maybe check online in advance and see what it is on average at the time of year you are planning to go, compared to England? I guess it depends how badly you get it aswel, I'm just taking a packet of piriton just incase, that normally stops the sniffles! From experience I've never had it abroad, but I'm nearly always near the coast when I go on holiday.

To be honest this is a great question...

When I was in Cambodia I began developing hayfever symptoms, and it really began spoiling my trip.. It took me about 2 wks to get to Saigon where it took me a whole day checking round Pharmacys and drawing diagrams of flowers and grass and me sneezing... Eventually I got some tablets and they helped.

So, yes I'm fairly sure you do. But as I said previously, this is a good heads up to people who are going.

I think it varies depending on the individual as each person reacts to different types of pollen. I suffer badly from hayfever in England, especially at the start of the summer but on my RTW (SE Asia, Oz, NZ, USA) I had no problems except at a theme park in the states. Only other place abroad i've ever had hayfever was in France.
Still i'll be taking some prescription hayfever tablets with me on my next RTW in Nov as its better safe than sorry, and as they are one a day they dont take up much room.
