hi
i'm looking to go to NZ, Austailia and Fiji in Aug 09 and i've found this Marine conservation thing in Fiji for 10weeks and it looks awesome but it's like £2300. i was just wondering if anyone had dealt with greenforce before or even this project, and was it any good, and also does anyone want to join me?
thanks
bekki xx

hey hey!!

I'm looking at doing exactly the same as you but hoping to head out earlier. hopefully march if i do some hardcore saving! i think that fiji conservation looks awesome too but think im going to go for the 10 weeks starting april 22nd. havent booked it yet. i was going to go and speak to them at their office first to make sure its defo what i want to do. its expensive but you can fundraise to pay for some of it!!

are you going alone then? im quite petrified about the whole thing. but my friend just got back from indonesia for 3 months alone and had a great time so im thinking i should be fine in oz and nz, especially as i dont have to learn a language.
have you heard back from anyone about whether greenforce are any good?
look forward to hearing from you,
hayleigh

i've heard its absolutely awesome from people that have been on that one and others.
i've been talking to them on the phone and stuff and they're always really helpful and fun to talk to, have you spoken to them yet?
apparently it books up fast though so i would get booking lol

yeh i'm going alone, but everyones been saying that its easy to meet people out there whether they're other back packers or locals so i'm quite looking forward to it i'm so glad i dont have to know another language, i'm rubbish at anything bi-lingual lol

I went on the Ecuador Greenforce trip and it was a complete let-down! It was really poorly organized - I ended up with just ONE other person, for 10 weeks. In the end me and the other person had to pay hundreds of pounds just to go home early. My advice is to never go on the this trip. They have been so rude also. They never once apologized for any of the poor organization e.g we had no training day (even though we paid for one) or no t-shirt. The guide made us feel stupid and small, along with acting very immaturely. After sending a complaint letter it took over a month for Greenforce to reply...with no apology and no compensation. I wasted so much money going and spent the whole time there thoroughly let down and gutted it had all come to that. I would have saved about five thousand pounds by not going...and had a better summer on top of that.

Hmm... Thats odd...

Because I went on the Ecuador Greenforce Expedition April to June 2008.

The experience was amazing. This was the first time I had travelled. The group of 8 had a great mix of people and Nick our guide was fantastic.

2 weeks in the Andes, learning spanish for those who hadn't done it before and refreshing us who had touched it before.

3 weeks of various work on the coast, lovely weather, working with kids in local communities, planting, clearning, painting, teaching, all sorts of activities!

3 weeks then in the Amazon which was what I was waiting for! couln't believe I was actually in the Amazon!! Here we did work on a bontanic garden for medicinal plants.

Then I left the group early to go to the Galįpagos. Words cannot describe the experience! All I can say is get a ticket out there now!!!

Thats just a breif sum of what went on. Each weekend we went off to all sorts of places and doing lots of different activities; biking; rafting; bungie jumping; caving to name a few.

Thats a shame that there was only two of you, perhaps that was why you experience wasnt very good and i'm sorry to hear that.

But I do reccomend this trip. Loved it! It definately gave me the travel bug!

You can find hundreds (thousands is more accurate) of photos from the trip on my facebook - search "Mez Eldridge-Tull" and go back a few pages through the albums. Add me if u cannot view the albums, I'm happy to share my experience :-)
