Does anyone have any suggestiong on volunteering projects in Australia that dont completely break the bank?

I will be in Australia for 3 1/2 months and am looking to take a week or so out so do some sort of conservation project. All the ones I've looked at are more long term or a bit too expensive for me.

I'm doing the Conservation Volunteers Australia project for 8 weeks in October.

Not sure if this is in your budget or not? £249 for a week. Includes accommodation and two meals a day.

Or you could try Wwoofing - Willing Wirkers on Organic Farms
You pay $80 to join, and they operate all over Australia (and I think NZ as well?).
Basically people advertise if they need help around their homes/farms - and it could be anything - construction, gardening, looking after animals, helping out with the kids, domestic help - whatever they need.
They put up up and feed you in exchange for your help.

My mates had a wicked time looking after/feeding the horses every afternoon for a couple of hours - they stayed in a hostel, but the family fed them an evening meal and took them out on a few day trips with their kids.
I haven't personally done it, but I've heard fantastic reviews and some great stories of how the families can help you/offer you some excellent experiences you wouldn;t get otherwise.

$80 is for the year by the way, so you could do it as many times as you like. Could be good if you start to runa bit low on cash - you can get free food/accom for a period.

Hey

This conservation project is about £150 a week food and accommodation included:

And this one doesn't have accommodation included but there are no fees:

Hope that helps!
