hiyaaa

I want to learn French abroad (probably France!) and was wondering if anyone else has learned a language abroad and if so where did you do it and what language did you do? How did you find it?

I'm thinking of doing it in the summer next year and wanted to hear other peoples experiences of doing this sort of thing!

thanks xx

I am a Projects Abroad ex-volunteer. I did a different project in Sri Lanka and the they organised everything perfectly for me - i can't fault them. The local staff are brilliant!

Projects Abroad offers placements in various destinations while living with a local family. I think the best way to learn a language is to immerse yourself with the local people and this will be a good opportunity for you.

Check out this link, it's an amazing true story.

hope this helps

Do you have any knowledge of French? I went to South America last year and studied Spanish but wish I spent a couple of months learning the Pimsleur/Michel Thomas methods prior to leaving as these have taught me so much in such a short timespan and could have learned so much more abroad with this foundation.

What are these methods that you speak of? I keep planning to re-learn spanish (I was pretty good at it at school but haven't spoken a word in years) but find getting back into it quite tedious.
