Hi All,

I want to travel from Dar to Cape Town on an overland tour. Can anyone recommend a good company? There are loads of mixed review so not sure where to start!!! Also, what's the best time of year to go?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks,

Also, I'd really like to get a Kilamanjaro trek in there too, any advice on how to go about fitting that in?

Thanks,

H

Hi Helen, I'm doing an overland through Africa but going from Nairobi to Cape Town (the absolute safari) which goes through Dar so you might be able to join on a tour or start one from there. I'm going with Absoule Africa as they had the best reviews and have been really good so far. I don't leave until September which seems ages away yet but it's getting closer! They also give you the option of climbing Kilimanjaro and when he best time is to see the migration! Hope this helps!

Hi!!

Thanks for the advice!!! I'm looking at Absolute (The Classic Safari) and Oasi(Coast to Coast), as they both look really good and reasonably priced!!! I'm not going until next year, but would love to hear how you get on!

Have a fantastic trip!

The British summer is a great time to go. You'll be starting near the equator so not much difference here, then heading into the southern hemisphere. The heat can be unbearable in the summer, so the winter is much more pleasant. Added to this, the dessert can become a sea of flowers and the Okavango Delta in Botswana is at it's finest.

My friend recommends Oasis having travelled from Spain to Cape Town with them. I travelled with ATC and found them fine but they do get mixed reviews to be honest. I think starting in Dar is a great idea as Kenya and Tanzania are relatively easy to travel independently. Make sure you give yourself enough time to enjoy Zanzibar before joining the truck; it's gorgeous and easily deserves a week.
