 ashes or japan?

Hi, i'm defo gonna take a gap year, and wanna travel. first i thought about japan which is somewhere i've always wanted to go. but after watching the ashes(only on TV) and really enjoyed it, i'm thinking of going to australia next nov-dec to go and watch some of the next ashes. i know you're probs thinking that since i've just got into cricket it wouldn't be a great idea to go on a cricket related holiday, but i'm a sports fanatic and couldn't think of any better way to spend my free time than either playing some sort of sport or watching it!
the ECB (england and wales cricket board) are offering a package where they book your hotels and tickets and you book your own flights. they will not have confirmed the prices til december this year, so i was just wondering how much i can expect to pay for hotels (i will be going to three different areas of oz to watch the cricket - can't remeber which right now!) for a month? should i be better off booking into youth hostels and buying the tickets seperately? i will have about a year to get the money together for this trip.
or should i just stick with japan so i can spend longer looking round the place and being a tourist rather than spending most of it watching cricket?

i know it's a bit of a random question but any advice/info would be much appreciated

cheers

Hannah

if the ecb guarantee you tickets that might be an idea cause you could find them hard to come by over there. they were like gold dust over here and that was before the series even started.

Why do people go on about the ashes so much, most of these so called fans have never seen cricket before, give it a month everyone will forget, and england shouldnt be called england since they have welsh and south african players its a disgrace.. and beat one team and you get a victory parade HAHAHA give me a break will you...!!!

P.S. flintoff is a cocky CHAV!!

Well i'm hoping to go to the ashes as i'm going to be in oz, and told my aussie mate to keep a look out for tickets on release. It'll be an excellent atmosphere guaranteed. It'll be top to go to that country as the place where the rugby world cup was won and hopefully retaining the ashes.

Nightwish, it's Sir Freddie Flintoff to you!!!

I think tickets will be very hard to come by if u have not already booked in advance. But if u get in it will be a stunning experiance u will never forget.

And nightwish85, England have not just beaten 1 team, since 2004 until last winter they had not lost a test series, won almost every single match. And it was the first time england had won the ashes in 19 years and they wern't even expected to. and how is flintoff cocky? never heard him say anything cocky in my life. get ur facts right!!!!
