Hey - I am looking to do some football coaching abroad for a couple of months, I have the opportunity to have a break from my career and really want to use the time fully.

I have seen some placements in Australia and they look fantastic but I would really appreciate feedback on what other people may be doing or have done.

Ghana looks cool as well and Honduras but I am not really sure what to expect in these countries

Also I am not the greatest footballer in the world and I am wondering if that will restrict what I can do?

Any comments, recommendations or suggestions greatfully accepted!!

hey!

I did some football coaching in my gap year, it was in South Africa so might not be what you're looking for but i would recommend the placement I did.

It was with a company called Travellers Worldide and I was based in the Limpopo Province of SA at a private school, but all the football coaching was done at outreach primary schools in the area. The kids don't speak english and there were loadsssss that wantd to play footie!

It's a great placement if you're fairly chilled out as nothing really happens on time or when it should and it is such a beautiful and unusual part of SA to go to.

Also you don't have to be a great footballer as they appreciate any help they can get and the kids cant really speak much english you can't get a lot of proper coaching done.

I would really recomend it because it was so rewarding and an amazing place to be.

Hope you find something cool! enjoy xx gem

hey,

i did some coaching for 2 months in California/Oregon a couple of summers back, working for a company called United Kingdom International Soccer Camps (UKISC) and they were great!

basically you'd move around camps each week with a group of 4-10 coachs (depending on the number of kids..) and each of you would stay with the family of one of the kids on the camp. you would then during the week work 3 hours (9am-12pm) or 6 hours (9am-3pm) from monday to friday.

it was great because you got alot of free time to spend with the family who would always take you out (shopping, meals, theme parks) or go explore with the coachs, and you'd have the weekends off to travel to the next camp/stop off in the city/beach.

if was a great way to see alot of the west coast for free basically as all transport/accomodation/food during the week was paid for.

being good at football isnt as important as being confident and friendly, being English is also a massive bonus (imagine americans coming to england to teach basketball, thats what its like)

you do need though to have a level 1 FA coaching award to go with UKISC
