 Teaching In China

PostPosted: Sat Oct 10, 2009 4:59 pm Reply to Message Reply with quote

Helloooo...

I'm new to all this travelling stuff.

I've applied for a job teaching in China. They have offered me £500-£900 per month, but have said for the first four months they will be taking 50% of my wage. They are proving all my accomodation, I will have my flight costs refunded, and they are funding my TEFL course. The contract will be for either 6 or 12 months.

Is this normal policy, or does anyone feel I could get a better offer.

All advice is appreciated.

Thanks

What sort of accomodation is it? Shared flat?

500-900 is a big gap in wages isnt it? You should find out exactly how much your gonna get. What website did you do it through?

Naaah.. you get your own flat.. apparently they say it's supposed to be pretty nice but they're going to say that aren't they.

It's minimum £500 if you get placed within a Primary School and maximum £900 if you're placed in a Secondary School. You don't find out what school you're in until you actually get out there.

It's English International. You heard anything good/bad about them?

900pounds isnt that much in China now. some jobs in Shanghai and Beijing are paying silly money.

The trouble is that there are alot of companies who run the teaching schemes in China and they kind of fuck you over money wise. I think aim between 700 and 900 is a good bet.

They are begging for teachers over there so you get abit of choice really, i think its better to put your cv on the websites available and let people contact you rather than go through an agency as you can get the best deal you can.

I think the best place to go are universitys and not private schools!
