Volunteer withe Orangutans - its fantastic. |
|
|
| Hi, I have just completed a travellersworldwide.com 2 month volunteer program at Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre.
It was fantastic!! I loved every minute of the program and got plenty of hands on with both the babies and young adults. Worth every penny that I struggled to save!!!!!!!! Daily duties include: Cleaning and feeding all Orangs in the clinic. Taking babies out to the nursery to play and teaching them to forage for food, climb and build nests. taking larger orangs out to the outdoor nursery and sometimes back into the forest. Assisting at the tourist platform (many orangs come onto the platform and require protection from the crowd and sometimes vice versa If I had the funds, i would return tomorrow. I would be pleased to answer any of your questions. Caroline |

| Hey,
Danni I think that project at Sepilok costs about £2,995 for 8 weeks. I'm sure it was amazing but there are plenty of cheaper ones out there where you can work with orangutans/monkeys etc and do exactly the same types of thing. If you want any help finding a project just get in touch, I'm trying to help others wanting to volunteer not get ripped off by the big companies ! This one is about £130 a week- http://www.jobsplitters.co.uk/placements/volunteer-orangutans-borneo |
