i have just come back from spending 2 months in ghana with projects abroad. i would NOT recommend them. for some reason the staff out there arent that good. i thought it was a rip off and they werent that bothered about you.
I thought it best to go with a big company to stay "safe". but DONT. the big companies use this to their advantage and are basically big money making businesses.
VILLAGE BY VILLAGE is THE NGO to go through if you want to do something worthwhile in Ghana. Their aim is to improve the lives of people living in 100 village is ghana by 2016. but volunteers are needed to help.
i came across the NGO when i was out there because its based close to where i was placed. Its run by a real genuine guy who wants to make a REAL difference- and all of your money gets put towards your project. the housing is very comfortable, and there are opportunities to stay in real african mud huts. i could not recommend this organisation more. theyre relatively new so everyones eager, however a couple of years experience and many a volunteer already been out there means its got enough experience.
Just have a look
