RUSSIAN VISA CONFUSION PLEASE HELP HITSQUAD

PostPosted: Thu Oct 1, 2009 4:16 pm Reply to Message Reply with quote

Getting so frustrated trying to sort this out so thought i'd give you guys a try and see if anyone could help me.!

Next year I am (at last) going to Russia, my dream.

I am hoping to study at a university for 3 months (febuary-april)
And to volunteer in a summer camp for 3 months (june-august).
Between this I will have one month, probably spent in the Baltics.

So, I am looking to get a 3 month Student visa from the consulate in London.
And a 3 month business visa while in Estonia/Latvia.

Is this feasible? Or will I have to arrange a 12 month business visa?
And would it be a problem to have a return flight booked that exceeds 1st visa?

Any help on the subject would be great!

Thank you!!!

(And any other advice regarding Russia/Baltics)

arranging russian visas is a utter mare!it took forever to arrange it and ive only just got my visa today and ive been arrangeing it since june. anyhoo youll have to get two different visas i imagine. student visa and a work visa i think. im volunteering bein a language assistant and i got a work visa 3 month single entry under the pretext of teaching which is the most likely 1 youll have to apply for

yo could get a mutiple entry visa but im not sure on how they work it might save you a bit of money mine was £136 its sooooooo annoyin i haven even got there yet but im ure itll be worth it!any questions dont hesitate to ask!

I'm teaching at language link - it was the only volunteer opportunities in russia at that time that I could find. prices for single flights can be extortionate its crazy. ok so you'll probably be stamped out at border control so thats ok.
how long are you volunteering for? if its at least 3 months youll need a hiv test as well letter of invitation and support.
the worst thing about all of this is that you ask the russian consulate questions and they direct to a telephone line to ring but even when your questions are answered its very likely you still havent got the full response!!!
crazy russian bureaucracy!

Have you looked at RealRussia.co.uk?

I know they help with tourist visas, but I don't know about your situation?
