 Travelling europe for 2months... help!

Ok so my 2 friends and myself are in the process of planning a 2month trip around europe.
So far we have gather a lot of information on the inter-rail system and are in the process of investigating some routes to and from places we want to see as well as hostels in the areas.
If any one has any ideas on routes or the price of a trip like this please help. We are getting a little lost in all the figures lol.
Places we really want to go to are France, Italy, Egypt, Portugal, Spain and perhaps up towards Germany etc. Highlights on Italy though. Travelling from Northern Ireland.
There are 2 girls and 1 guy so we are only a small wee group so safety and organisation are big on the list for this trip as 2 have never been away for so long alone before.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Danielle xx

As you're only doing Western Europe, you'll be looking at a fair bit. I did 4 weeks and spent just over a grand (including my inter-rail ticket). We did a fair bit in Eastern Europe as well, where it's a lot cheaper.

For 2 months, I would say about 2.5k, or you could probably do it in about 2k if you were on a strict budget. Other people may disagree - maybe I spend too much! I would make sure you have 2k at least though.
