Ok so going to australia for a year in 8 and a half weeks, eeek when did it get so close?!

Been looking at credit cards, a few which dont charge while abroad like sandanter zero. Looks great cos no additional fees when use it, if need cash out of atm then no charges. But then clydesdale and llyods tsb which have interest free on all purchases for 6 months whereas sandanter zero is interest free for only 3 months.

So what's better/more useful? Not getting charged for using the card or knowing they'll be no interest for first 6 months of my trip?

Helooo
Id recomend you try and get a nationwide cash card if you don't alrady have one. More than likely this is the only one you will be offered - you need t be regulalry using the cash card, having wages regulalry paid into the account for at least 6 months before they consider giivng you an upgrade.

Id also recomend getting a prepaid credit card and use this as your debit card - just load on what you want on it, so whenever you go to pay for trips, hostels, food, flights just put on the amount you think will be enough to cover the above - do not put all your cash on to it, just use your cashcasrd as you wont be charged for withdrawing.
Caxton Global Travel card is ideal for going to oz, it uses aussie$.
I recomend either the Santander Zero CC or Post Office CC. for back up only they do not charge you for fees/commission you will be charged a fair whack though if you withdraw money - regardless of whether you pay the card off in full or not.

I applied for the post office card and got refused last night. No idea why, have good credit rating and all so who knows!!

Already got my nationwide debit card so sorted on that front.

It was just for a credit card that im looking for, might look into one of those pre-paid cards. But are they only useful if you only have the cash card from nationwide and need a card to use as a debit card?

The fact i already have my debit card means a pre-paid one might be a bit useless? I'll look into either pos office or santander zero too.

Thanks!
