How easy is it to get work in Australia?

Ive got flights booked to Cairns for the 5th November and wasnt planning on working while im out there instead I was going to get a summer job in England to save up money before I go.

But ive had no luck in getting a job over here so was thinking of changing my flights to early Sept and trying to get work over in Australia for a couple of months before travelling down the east coast in Nov. Does anyone know how easy it is to find work over there and if its worth changing my flights and doing this? Or if ill find it just as hard to get casual work over there as it is here.

Any suggestions or help appreciated! Thanks

Have a read here, mate:

As for Cairns specifically, well October to April is wet season up there, so things are quieter. It's a bit of a double-edged sword, because although it means there's less jobs, there's the advantage of the fact there's fewer backpackers (and fewer people in general) up there at that time of year looking for work.

But yeah - finding decent work in Oz right now is pretty tough. Full time jobs are not as common as part time jobs at the moment across much of Oz.
