I am planning for the next year to do some travelling around the world, spend 2-3 months in various locations and work in those places. I don't know how realistic this is which is why I need a little help getting started. I have some locations in mind and it seems most flights would be in the region of £500 returns. My plan was that if I could work somewhere, earn a living and enough to pay for the flights then go onto the next place, continuing in this fashion. I have about £2000 saved as a backup which I wouldn't mind spending but would prefer not to go into it.

How feasible is this? What else would you need to know about the plan?

Where are you thinkin of doing this and for how long are you planning on going for?

Have you looked into ta Round The World Ticket? the cost around the £1500 mark depending on when your going and how many stop offs u want! you have to go in the same direction round tho, so im doing

Asia, Oz, NZ, Fiji, USA ( basic route)

I have a few places in mind but nothing set in stone, I am more interested in cities than small towns or rural areas. As I said, ideally I would spend the next year, give or take a few months, visiting places, live there for 2-3 months whilst working, then move on. Some places that I'm considering are Spain, France, Argentina, Uruguay, Taiwan, Japan, Australia.

I'm going to have a look into that 'Round The World Ticket' now.

u really need to think about where you want to go to work out your best route, you dint want to go back on your self as that would just be a total waste of time! and you wouldnt get your money to stretch as far as it could!

reamember you can alway work in hostels for free accomodation and there are places that do cast in hand work but not ideal! if ur stayin in teh EU u dnt need to worry bout Visa's but you will need them for other places!

Im not actually being much help am i? but i personnally would get a rough route or at least places before you set off

I am basically starting from scratch with a few basic ideas, and I'm going to build everything around what I want to do, so don't worry, I'm not going to get on the next flight to wherever the hell I feel like and go from there, I am going to plan this properly. I should've made it clear, in between the 2-3 months away I would like to come back home for a month or so which is why I was planning for return flights. So I was thinking this, go to Spain or France first, get a feel for this in a country that is closer to home and probably has a lot more English speakers around, then move on to something a bit more ambitious.

I guess you'd be ok in europe but the problem you'll have is in poorer countries ie argentina uruguay. I am only listing these as i have been there.
You'll probably be able to get jobs in hostels but you wont actually get paid.
You'll get free accomodation and maybe food as well but in terms of actual money i have never really met anyone in these kinds of countries that actually got paid any money for working in which case you will have to fund the flights and any spending money yourself.
In countries like Aus, NZ, canada and parts of europe you have a more realistic chance of earning actual money to fund your trip but in places like taiwan, argentina, uruguay, possibly japan too as i guess you would need to speak japanese in order to get a job you will struggle i think.

Hope this helps

Sometimes I think this is the best option when you have too many choices! Look out for cheap deals, might help to sway your decision!

The only time ive heard of people work in places like japan is when there doing pre arranged work, like teaching english!

I think if you owrk really hard and save in countries where you can earn real money then you wont have to earn money in the countries you cant (not sure that makes sense but it does in my head lol)

To be honest with you what ever you decide to do will be amazing and it will work and you'll have a great time!

if your planning on returning home for a month then a RTW ticket prob wouldnt be the best option for you!

let us know how u get on any way
