Hey people,

My name is Jamie, i'm 20 years old and i'm currently living in the UK, i have just finished college and i've decided not to go back for another year and so i'm looking for work, while working on a long term goal of joining the Royal Marines, which is just a apptitude related problem, maths to be specific anyway, yeah.. i'm out of work at the moment and i have been thinking about traveling for a short while now, so I thought why not work while traveling? sounds ideal right, well i dont know where to start.

I have half decent qualifications within the sports industry and i'd like to put these to use or alternativly find physical enjoyable work. I don't mind hard work though, any work will do for a start ofcourse. I'm just unsure on how to start basically.

I have looked at camps and so on but I think these are more just part time summer jobs, because of my lack of funds i think it would be suitable to stick with one destination, until i can build up enough cash to enjoy the travelling more, so more permanent jobs would be a plus.

i've read a fair few of the post before creating my own, i noticed hostels are beneficial to some extent but like i said i'd be looking to earn money also to put towards some extra funding for traveling later down the line, also fund raising how would i go about this it seems harder as i have no real plan to sell my self or help the community etc, i obviously dont mind doing this.

argh im going to wrap it up, it's pretty late so i apologise for the typos :P, to summarize im just looking for a nice destination maybe AUS or NZ where i can go and work there as a living for an extended amount of time so i can save up to travel properly

THANK YOU

any advice is appreciated, J.

hello! i read your post as you are a first timer too like myself and im confused!im 17 and going on a gap year and want to get experience in dentistry so looking at travellers worldwide as a company to travel with but ive had mixed reveiews and i cant work out how to post questions on here yet???please tell me! anyway sorry for woffleing about myself...my only, limited, advice is what my friendshave done with sport abroad in places like senegal etc. they were volunteers but there are also programs where you can get paid for the work you do but they are harder to come by, maybe not so in developed countries such as what youre looking at. also ive heard its alot cheaper to contact places directly rather than through companies as to miss out the middle man. well i doubt i was much help at all!sorry, best of luck though

Hey guys,

Whilst i cant offer any advice on this topic. i am mid way through reading the Loney Planets' 'The big trip'. it's quite useful and has a chapter on finding work in different countries. So thought you might find this helpful.

Hey
what about canada ??
You can get a working visa from bunac and that allows you to work for up to a year in any job you like and you can also stick with the same employer for the whole year . Im planning on doing this in 2010, just waiting for them to issue the visa which you can get from december this year. Still deciding on whether i should do Vancouver or Toronto
Hope this helps !
