| Call me old fashioned, but it is just me that thinks kids these days are far too....eurgh? I know I'm hardly well into life myself, but at 12 years old I was not drinking, smoking, and more to the point, I was not having sex!!!!
I know girls who are 12 who have slept with more than one person, and ones that havn't that say they have, just to be "cool" like the others!!! It's disgusting! Apart from being incredibly illegal, they run the risk of STIs, pregnancy etc, aswell as being damaged "internally...." plus, by the time they get to 16, they'll be so loose (forgive the crudeness!) they'll never have any fun again!!! Sorry if I'm ranting, but hearing a 12 year old tell me that she'd "totaly do him over" when someone mentioned my ex....who is 22.... I mean... Why is that normal in today's society? I know I only think this because of how I've been brought up etc, and I'm perhaps a hypocrite because I'm not perfect myself.... but at 18, I'm technically an adult!!! At 12, you havn't even sat GCSEs!!!! Please, please someone tell me I'm not the only one who thinks like this, I'm convinced that I sound like my dad.... but....TWELVE???? WHY DO THEY EVEN KNOW WHAT SEX IS AT THAT AGE?!?!?! Ru X ps I know it's just something that makes them feel all grown up etc... but the fact is, they are NOT mature, physically or mentally, and it's just MENTAL!!! |

| I know how you feel, I don't think I even knew what sex was at 12 (well, probably in a vague kinda way).
I was still a child at 12, and I didn't want to be cool. I didn't really worry about being cool and adult until I was about 16. Its really sad that kids don't have a chance to be kids. Whatever happened to cooties? Weren't boys icky when we were 12?! |

| i can see where you are coming from but some 12
year olds are more mature than others, like when i was 12, yes i did drink with my mates, 1 bottle of cider between about 5 of us. i wasnt having sex but i was 'copping off' with boys. i see some 12 year olds and they look like little children, whereas when i was 12 i used to get mistaken for year 10 students, and looked about 15 anyway! ive always looked older than i am and have always been treated older than i am |

| Hmm, Ok, I can see where you're coming from, but just because some are more mature than others doesn't make them mature.... it's mental, no joke... and anyone who can find it ok that a 12 year old was gonna crack onto my 22 year old ex must be cracked in the head!!!

| I agree, it's twisted. I come from an area where a lot of people are like these 12 year olds you describe. It's just not right. I do actually feel very very sorry for them to be honest. They really don't have a clue what they are doing, and there is no emotion involved. Really sad | |

| I think every generation (by that i mean every 2-3 years) looks down and go i never behaved like that. You notice the bad people.
I think its really sad that 12 year olds would get up to these types of things, it says far to much about some failures in our society. |

| i agree Ruth, twelve year olds having sex is entirely wrong. some are more mature than others, but more often than not they have either non-existent or, in my opinion, questionable guidance from parents/others. not that i'm a parent myself but i hope that if i ever do have children i'll instil in them that there are less stressful ways to spend your time when twelve than be sleeping around.
i don't believe that 12 year olds are children, and should not be treated as such, but i am horrified by how some people think pre-teen sex is to be expected almost, not even just 'acceptable'. |

No ok, I agree with that... eurgh, I still think it's just wrong. Tarting themselves up in short skirts and heels and plastering themselves in makeup so people will think they are older than they are.... I know one girl (my mates cousin...my mate is 16, his cousin is 13) who dresses herself up with the intent of looking older so she can pull older men...she tells them she's 17 so they'll sleep with her. Uhm....whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat???? Ru X ps I'm not saying they're ALL like that.... but the one's I've seen and the one's I know... then they all talk to me about it in a really confidential manner. I'm like, woah.... I talk to my friends about this kind of stuff. I feel dirty just for knowing what they do  |

i know, some of the conversations i have heard in the toilets at my school are truly horrifying. some sick men are taking advantage of silly girls who don't know any better and it's vile. of course there are also the 12 year old boys, another phenomenon entirely. |

I know teens were, I knew like 14 and above were doing that kinda thin gbut 12? I mean I know it happens but I thought that was rare llike one girl in a blue moon, not a fair number. wow, and my friend didn't belive me when I said it was the trend for teens to be having sex pre 16. mind you, you know the King Arthur, sowrd in the stone story? Well I belive in the old version of that or at least some versions of it, Guienivre, his wife, was supposed to be 12... so guess its alwasy been there in the culture. still, weird. |

| In my opinion i believe that all 12 year olds should know what sex is in order to make informed decisions and toprotect themselves from some of the predators out there.
I dont believe that 12 years old having sex is a new thing, i know that a girl in my school got pregnent when she just turned 13. In every survey they do, it seems that the average age is 17 so i think that the majority of kids are lying to be cool. Sex to these kids is seen as exciting and unknown so i think a lot of them are exaggerrating on their sexual status, its like the armbands that were out a few years ago to show how far you have been with how many people. I remember the first time i had sex, i thought "is this what everyone is raving about" where i admit it got better, because everyone at school was raving about it i was at first dissapointed. People grow up differently and some mature more than others, whereas i dont believe that any 12 year old should be having sex, i do know that some thought that i started having sex to early but i think that i was ready and have no regrets. people grow up differently and at different rates but i think as long as they make informed decisions, it has to be each to their own. However i dont believe we should use the word slut to any women let alone 12 year old girls. |
