I went with ATC and found them good, but I can't say whether they're any better than any other company. We had a driver, a cook and a guide which was better than some outfits that tried to make do with just one person. The truck did seem slower than others though, so we were having to get up at dawn some days and not stopping until after dark, but this seems to be the norm.
I think a lot is about the people you get on board. We had a mixed crowd of various nationalities and ages and most of us had a great time. Some of the group didn't seem to gel though, which was a shame, but again this can happen on any truck.
Personally I found an overland truck great in Namibia and Botswana but in Malawi, Tanzania and Kenya I felt I probably could have done it myself and had a better, more fulfilling experience. |
