Can anyone reccommend any good companies to do an overland truck safari?? |

| Hi everyone!
I'm thinking of doing an overland truck safari from kenya to cape town, can anyone recommend any good companies to do it with? I have read some bad reviews about african travel company, anyone have any good experiences with them? Any tips would be appreciated!

| Hey I can recommend Absolute Africa, I did an overland with them through Africa last year and had a blast. I know other folk on here who have also used them and had no complaints. They were really helpful from booking right through to the trip itself and our guide and driver were great.
Oasis overland are also another similar company who I've heard good reports about. I've heard a few bad things about ATC and the trucks we met on the road through them didn't seem to be half as happy as we were. |

| I went with ATC and found them good, but I can't say whether they're any better than any other company. We had a driver, a cook and a guide which was better than some outfits that tried to make do with just one person. The truck did seem slower than others though, so we were having to get up at dawn some days and not stopping until after dark, but this seems to be the norm.
I think a lot is about the people you get on board. We had a mixed crowd of various nationalities and ages and most of us had a great time. Some of the group didn't seem to gel though, which was a shame, but again this can happen on any truck. Personally I found an overland truck great in Namibia and Botswana but in Malawi, Tanzania and Kenya I felt I probably could have done it myself and had a better, more fulfilling experience. |

| How long before you're thinking of going?
I leave in june to spend 3months Nairobi to Jo'berg with Oasis Overland. They have been very helpful so far replying to my many emails and they have had good reviews, i also think the price is good. I'll update you in a couple of months with what there like on the road!! |

| Hey, I went with Absolute Africa last year too and can also recommend them. To be honest most of the overland trucks seem to cover the same places so it's really down to who you end up with on the truck to make the difference. We met people from ATC also who had been abandoned half way through the trip and so were completing it themselves! Needless to say steer clear! Otherwise Oasis, Kumuka and Dragoman all seemed pretty good although i personally thought Absolute Africa had better trucks because the windows were bigger and the tents seemed better. Have fun, i'm very very jealous!! | |
