Hey, i just flew in to Nadi, FIji last night from Rarotonga...i was staying at Varas for 12 days and it was absolutely fantastic. Everyone was very friendly and although groups kept breaking up because people left i suppose thats just part of travelling, and before long another group had been made, everyone was extremely friendly and the island is just the perfect size to enjoy, eat, sunbath, relax and even take in the island walk.

Definately get a moped aswell, and try to get a beachside lodge at varas, although the hillside is still good.

Amazing place...so far, far far better than fiji. I cant beleive there is so little discussion about it on here.

Hey, not sure if I'm going to miss you!... I leave UK for LA on 21st March. Headed to Cooks first for 10 days, then to fiji for 10 and then on to NZ for 3 months...
Does that tie in with any of your plans?

I was in the cooks last month for a nice 10 days of rain, very nice place, just the weather was too bad for me. small tip, DON`t go to international backpackers, they are recomended by sta, but they are terrible. the rooms arent very nice, and when we came to checking the woman was really nasty to 2 estonians that we were with at the time. we went to Varas after that and it was stunning be warned though, the fish bite sometimes(not a joke) backpackers.com is also a good one to stay at.
