Hi this is ollie, looking for a similar minded guy/girl to experience the Caribbean this summer!

I’m a 20 years old male living Hertfordshire, originally from Suffolk, was studying for a paramedic degree but am now just working making coffees, lol. I’m easy-going, reliable and always up for a laugh.

I’m not an intrepid adventurer (as-yet!!) but have done a bit of Europe and did west USA last summer, so would love to travel with someone interesting to face the excitement and troubles together.

I only have a rough idea on my Caribbean plans, so I welcome any input.

I really want to go to Jamaica; it seems such a great place to be. There is so much culture, cuisine, history and life in Jamaica. It’s perfect especially for new travellers, like myself since the language is English, you need no strict visas (since it is Commonwealth), it’s not too dangerous and the weather is sunny all year round with a cool mountain breeze. Most of all, there is diversity in how people live with the poor rural mountain communities, the busy streets of Kingston and also the relaxing beaches, so there are many people to meet and sample their lifestyles.
I plan to go to Jamaica first and do a bit of volunteering with the www.bluemountainproject.org which is unlike these rip-off volunteering projects, where you pay thousands of pounds to participate. This instead cost around £30 a day to take part helping the charity enrich the lives of the rural communities, teaching the children, helping the medical facilities and becoming a real part of Jamaican mountain life. In return you get a place to stay, 3 Jamaican meals a day, support and lifts to and from the airport. There’s no deposit or up-front fees, so we can stay as long as we please. Then I figured we could just chill out around the island for the remander of our time in Jamaica, there is also a lot of reggae festivals in the summer!

I also have always wanted to go to Cuba, especially before Fidel Castro dies and America gets its grubby hands on it, lining the streets with McDonalds and Starbucks! lol. Dominican Republic also would be a bonus and I’m open to the idea of including a bit of Central America, especially Costa Rica where some of my friends will be going, to perhaps meet up with them.

As always I am open to any suggestions and have no particular dates or length of stay decided as yet.
Hope a fellow wanna-be-pirate joins me on my voyage!
