Hi!
If you have to choose a country in Central-south America where volunteer for 3 months, which one would you have chosen?
I want to improve my Spanish so maybe no Brazil.
Any suggestion?
Thanks for your help!

I have visited most countries in South America and my fav by far is Colombia. There are lots of opportunities to volunteer and help people in many parts of the country.

Many countries would be terrific to live and work in. Two years ago I volunteered and taught English in the Peruvian Andes and had a cracking time. The culture is so different that you would be almost guaranteed an amazing time no matter where you visit.

Good luck

wow!
thank you! I can't wait to leave!
Can I ask you why Colombia?
I found a project in Bolivia in La paz and another one in Ecuador (Baņos, Tungurahua). Have you been there?
Thanks '

You can't really go wrong in south america, every country has something brilliant to offer. I've been living in Colombia for almost 5 years so I'm probably biased but Colombia is a very good bet. Have a look at my Colombia site and see what you think... http://www.colombiatravelguide.net

Cheers,

Ewan.

Bolivia is an amazing and fun country, and it's really cheap, but on that basis maybe volunteer somewhere thats expensive so you'll be saving money (assuming you are going to travel around a bit as well?)

I havent been to colombia but loads of friends have and didnt have any problems, as long as you stay away from the dodgier areas (the north i believe?)

I'd volunteer in Argentina personally, because I think it's got the perfect climate, and whatever you want (snow, mountains, european style city, remote city) it has it all. But not much beaches!! Anyway, everywhere i've been in south america was amazing so you'll have a great time!! Maybe search for a few different charities/projects and then just choose the one you like the sound of most, and wherever that one is go there!!
