There doesn't seem to be any discussion about Uruguay on here so I guess I'll start it. I've read quite a bit about Montevideo in particular and it interests me. I would like to plan a trip to spend a few months there, although I'm considering Buenos Aires too, I would visit both of them during my time there anyway. I would ideally like to get a job out there to cover my living and hopefully pay for some of the trip too. I would like to work out there and on days off I would do tourist things around the city, get to know people, travel to other cities occasionally. What can people tell me about this?

Cant help as havent been but good choices, South America fascinates me and it sounds a lot kinder on the budget (or can be) compared to other places. Definitely want to get out there soon.

Uruguay is a great little country and it is well worth visitining if only for a few days if you have the time. It is really easy to hop on a ferry in B.A and be in Montevideo in a matter of a couple of hours.

Montevideo itself is not incredible, but it does have its charms and has a pretty good nightlife. I had a couple of great nights out there.

Also worth the visit is Colonia del Sacramento, a lovely little town that has some cracking restaurants and is just really nice to relax in for a day or two.

As for living and working out there, i reckon that TEFL work could be your best bet. i remember seeing quite a few language schools in Montevideo.

hasta luego

Dan
