Nah not crazy at all! Unless you're a total hermit then you should find it pretty easy to meet people. Just looked in my South America lonely planet for you and their recommended budget is US$45-50 a day for Brazil(it's a lot less for other countries like Peru and Bolivia). I'm sure you'll have an amazing time

Hey Victoria,

I am starting off in Brazil on the 10th Jan, volunteering for a month in an orphanage....then am going to be in Rio for Carnival, after that am travelling down to Argentina then up to Peru before flying out on the 15th April!

What are your plans? Are you going by yourself too? Am getting more nervous now its getting closer!! exciting though...x

I am flying into Buenos Aires on the 4rd Feb and then think i will head through paraguay and bolivia to the Inca trail in time for mid march. Then head down to santiago by the 8th april when i fly out.

i am going by myself as well. not nervous yet, but i think its because im not thinking about the reality of it yet! im not too worried about meeting other people but i think i will do a welcome thing for a couple of days to ease into travelling thing!

Victoria x
