Has anyone been to these islands?
They look beautiful but I have a feeling they will be pricey ...?

They are absolutely stunning - a true piece of paradise! There are 2 main ways to get there:

1. If you are going to/from Cartagena in Colombia you can do a week sailboat trip stopping off at the islands en route.
2. Fly from Panama City. This costs about $50 one way.

If you go by boat then, depending on what you negotiate with your captain, you wont need to pay for food or accomodation as you can stay/eat on your boat. You can also sail round the islands with your boat.

If you fly then you can get accomodation on an island and buy meals from them. You can also arrange to have someone take you to other islands and pick you up again in the evening.

I actually took a rather strange route as I sailed to the islands from Cartagena but then flew to Panama City which caused all sorts of problems at customs when we landed. We slept in hammocks by the beach and cooked some of our own food which kept costs down. I think most people who fly buy packages in Panama City so you may be able to negotiate prices when you buy.

If you can get there though I would really recommend it because they are truly amazing - white beaches, turquoise seas and totally deserted. You'll have the place to yourself!

Wow, thanks! That sounds amazing!

We would probably fly from Panama City as we arent going to Columbia.
Is accomodation expensive?

To be honest I don't know. As I said, we stayed in hammocks by the beach rather than in proper accomodation although I think we paid about $10 per night for the privilege!

At the end of the day, it's all relative. Yes it's expensive for Panama, but it's not expensive compared to say London prices, and for what you are getting I'd say it's totally worth it.
