Most people love Panama . Check the sand blast islands out. Also cheap to fly over to Colombia.

You can fly to San Blas from Panama City for about $50 one way or if you are sailing to Colombia it is usually a stop over for a couple of nights.

Another option, if you find yourself short on time/money, is to go to Bocas Del Toro - another set of beautiful islands, not quite as stunning as San Blas, but really close to the border with Costa Rica.

Go to the Miraflores Locks and watch a couple of boats go through the Panama Canal - an awesome piece of engineering. Also, be impressed by the designs on the local buses - quite cool!
