So ive got about 3 1/2 months to travel from KL to Beijing and any places in between.

Most likely Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam then onto China for the last month.

I could also book a few airasia cheap flighst to skip a few bits not sure though!

Im guessing once i get to Thailand its a pretty common route?

Has anyone done similar trips or planning to do so starting January 2010?

Hey im planning the same route in November. I found this web page

http://www.seat61.com/Malaysia.htm

Shows train routes for every where and the KL to Beijing looks simple enough.

Is that £160 for a straigh train from Beijing to KL, or will you be stopping off at places along the way ? I saw single tickets on that route for around £3.00!!!

Well what i saw was a single trip from KL to Penang was around £3.00 for a third class seat. I will be stopping off everywhere along the way aswell, so i wonder would it be cheaper to just buy singles at each stop or buy the whole thing for £160.

How long will you be able to stay in each place with that £160 ticket ?
