Hi
I did the whole whv in oz last year and met some great friends from vancouver, which has lead me to my next adventure lol. Ive been looking at return flights (as need return not just one way) and they all seem a bit expensive or have like 3 transfers. Just wondered if anyone could recommend an airline or a guide figure to how much they usually are, I intend to go feb/march next yr.

thanks

Hey!
I am a big fan of Canada and managed to fullfill a lifelong dream of doing a road trip for 3 weeks a few years back. Travelled the western part of Canada including Vancouver - it is an amazing place! Be sure to get yourself over to Vancouver Island too and and visit Tofino on the Island - just the most beautiful place I have ever been! (Although not sure the weather will be all that in Feb - aim for end March if you can).
Anyway - as for flights - I did a lot of research when I went and found Canadian Affair by far the cheapest and they fly direct to Vancouver from Gatwick - not sure how far Gatwick is from you in Lincoln - I'm a southerner I'm afraid! You should expect to pay somewhere around £400 - £500 rtn I think - if my memory serves me correctly! I don't know what your budget is but I would be surprised if you could get much cheaper than this. Canadian Affair also rent RV's so if you were looking for one of these too it might be worth giving them a call and seeing what deals they can do for you for a package. The earlier you book the cheaper you will get the flight for sure!
I hope you get there and enjoy it as much as I did!!!
I am planning a RTW trip from Sep - Feb and will be on Australia's east coast for the month of November so if you have any tips for me - they will be greatfully received!! ;o))
Keep on trucking!!
Sonja

Yeah London is ok for me to get to as can get the train n have friends all around london area if i do need people to stay with before i fly. Deffo want to go vancouver island, my friend can be my personal tour guide lol.

As for oz, i did the majority of the east coast in nov last year was awesome fraser island and whitsundays are a must. Cape trib is pretty cool up in port douglas and deffo get a sky dive in lol.

Is canada pretty expensive for like food, drink and trips n stuff??as ill get free accomodation which is a bonus

Thanks for the help.

Hey, I live in Vancouver, it’s not too expensive…. you have accommodation paid for so that’s a bonus, A bar meal typically ranges from $10-$20; beers $5- $7; martinis and what not around $8 - $10….. Most budget restaurants are the same $10-$20.

Trips can get quit expensive, the ferry, last time I was on it, to take you over to the Island was approximately $15ish walk on and with a car around $50…. City buses are around $2.50 per trip they have monthly/day passes or fare savers (you can get them at almost all stores) which is a booklet of bus tickets saves you a few bucks….. they don’t expire and are good until you use them. You can train up to whistler (never done it before) but my g\f did it last year and I think it was around $500 for 3 or 4 days (I believe) and that included her return train ticket and hotel, restaurants up there are a bit more….. Whistler is quite expensive but def. worth a trip if you ski or snow board or just enjoy rolling down snowy hills....Budget Hotels are anywhere from $75 - $150…. .

It might be cheaper to get a return ticket to London once your in Vancouver, there are almost always seat sales to London $300-$500 CAN (not sure of your budget) otherwise try these sites for tickets:

Hey Trayzee! I remember you going to Oz last year and now your home! How long did you have there? I have been here nearly 7 months now. Am just trying to find some more work so I can stay here until the visa runs out. I don't know whether to try and get the 2nd year visa or not!
but anyways i'm reading this thread with interest because my friend is going to Canada in August for a year and it's actually something I am starting to consider too. I was looking online at jobs in the UK and there is not much about at the moment so maybe I should just go somewhere else and work when I get back to the UK!

So thought id head to canada as met some great people from there when I was in oz. Yeah jobs in the uk are hard to come by so maybe go for the 2nd yr visa or head to canada. I was soooooo depressed when i got home so figure book something else now..something to look foward to. I found a flight for 450 return from london heathrow dont seem to bad.
