Singapore is really nice, a clash of cultures with high end financiers to Chinese street markets

Singapore although a country is essentially just a city so you really wouldn't want more than a week there. I really enjoyed the 5 days I had there

the Zoo / night saffari is amazing
Raffles
Sentosa Island
Just wandering around
Shopping
WW2 museum (the siege of Singapore)

Cheers for the info

Yeah Singapore is the last stop in Asia before we head to OZ. Probably looking at 2 days there just now I think.

the zoo/safari does look good, had a look on their website and I will probably check out the WWII museum as well

The night safari is really cool, and you obviously have to go to Raffles.

I'd also recommend heading to a local food court (by local I mean find one where you can't see any other backpackers) and eat the food. It's amazing.

hey,

looking on the sentosa island website, there is a massive list of 'things to do' on the island website....anyone recommend specific things? from what i can see im currently thinking of allowing a day there and doing:

- fort siloso
- tiger sky tower
- butterfly park / insect kingdom
- luge and skyride (for fun, why not!)
- possibly underwater world/ dolphin lagoon too

all these together plus getting on the island currently convert to about £38 (ish)

is it worth the money or a waste of time? either way i'll go to the island and at least do the skyride i think...

A taxi ride around the F1 track?

Singapore is one of those places that you can see in about 3-5 days, more than that you'd be struggling I think. Though I haven't been since 2001 so I don't know how much it has changed.

I did all those things in Sentosa, and I thought it was a cool enough place. Certainly a decent day out.

There were four of us, though, and we made our own amusement. Not sure I'd have been too keen on doing it on my own.

Playing in the fountains next to the 'Do Not Play In The Fountains' signs was a particular highlight.

ahh ok,
i'm not going alone, it's both my boyfriend and myself doing a RTW trip together i just sometimes dont mention it for easy/ lazy typing haha!

were both really excited about the trip but hes not on here/ doing much of the investigating yet, so im thinking (as we're big kids at heart) this place might be ideal and help start getting him more involved in what we'll be doing!!!
