 Backpack or suitcase for Fiji

Hey, i've been in Australia nearly a year with a backpack (wish I hadn't brought it!) and am about to buy a suitcase to put all my extra stuff in. I am going to Fiji for 10 days at the end of November and am just going to take a few things (so I say now!). Is a suitcase suitable? Or will a backpack be better getting off boats onto the islands etc?

Thanks!

Backpack is easier for getting on off the boats as you have to get on smaller boats to reach the islands. Suitcases can be accomodated when getting off the main boat for a small boat, but not on the other side. ie when you get out the small boat to the island.

They can't take you in all the way so you have to jump out, usually up to your knees.

Of course, this is only for trips such as Awesome Adventures which I did. No idea with other companies.

I'd bring a backpack- unless you're on a smooth surface suitcases are a pain in the arse

Thanks guys. It's got to be the backpack now anyway because my suitcase I bought yesterday has broken on it's first use!
