Hiya, just wanted to ask a quick question,

I wondered what it would be like for a Dutch person wanting to visit Indonesia?

I mean the Dutch did a lot of shit their, and I wondered if haveing a Dutch pasport would screw things up?

Also would it be easy to get a Visa? My dad was born in Jakarta, while it was a Dutch Colony, but my fammily had to leave when it all kicked off, and they got chucked out etc...

Im just a bit interested, cus Id like to see where my dad was born, and my grandparednts worked/lived etc??

I know this is really weird, but I figured someone may be able to help, I mean Tommarville seams to know everything.

Hey,
not being Dutch I canīt speak from personal experience but I doubt it will be a big issue. I met many different European nationalities in Indonesia including one Dutch women and she never mentioned any problems. As far as I am aware there isnīt any particular issues between the two countries, and Dutch people have the same visa requirements as everyone else.

Also as a Brit Iīve never encountered any proper issues with travelling in any of the former colonies, which is just as well or most of the world would be out. With the possible exception of Algeria (which has separate issues) it is the same for French people travelling in French colonies etc

Unless you go around announcing that you are planning to recolonise, or make any comments about Dutch superiority then shouldnīt be a problem

That's fair enough, thank you,

I was just a bit worried from the storries my grandparents have told me, they lived there, and were chucked out. My grandads best freind was killed for being dutch, but this was about 50 years ago.

Thanks again.
