Indonesia for Xams/NY |

| Hi all,
My OH and I are travelling around SE Asia for 3 and a half months and we will be in Indonesia for Xmas/NY. As it's an expensive time, where would be the cheapest/best place to spend Xmas/NY? We're pretty chilled people, so somewhere on the beach is ideal, but want somewhere a little livier for NY (though not massive party) Any ideas? Thanks |

I was in Bali for Xmas and New Year, and had a great time stayed at a bit of a dive near to Kuta Beach on the road just off Poppies Gang I, called Ayu Beach Inn 2 I think, and made a good deal with the owner, think I paid around 70/80 thousand a night over xmas period and 60000 for New Year, also he had a scooter which I hired for a week to travel around the Island for 30000 a day, which was good. Nice family and did not mind what time of day it was when I came in or out. For New Year I partied on the beach with a group of locals who I had meet and became friends with, was a great night with beach packed by midnight with lots of Balinese. Hope that helps. |

| here's a list of rooms available on the poppies lane in Kuta, I'm staying in Bali for three months and will be there over xmas and new year, I'll probably stay at one of these. I expect the prices have gone up a little as that blog entry was dated in 2003 but i'm sure you'll be able to get an alright place to sleep for under £5 a night.
