Does anyone know any decent cheap hostels near Sentral Station in KL?

There isn't any really. You might as well just pop down to Bukit Bintang or Chinatown and stay there. It's only a few minutes in a taxi or on the monorail from Sentral to Bukit Bintang, and it's a much nicer part of town.

Sentral Station's a bit out of the way from backpackery stuff, although still fairly central.

Red Palm is superb. Number Eight is just opposite Red Palm, in case it's full.

These are they:

Red Palm

Number Eight

A cheapie option is also on the same road as those two:

Green Hut

It's definitely worth booking a bed up-front. They all get pretty busy.

Take the airport shuttle buses to KL Sentral station and then hop on the monorail to Bukit Bintang. It's easy and cheap. Air Asia and a few others run the cheap shuttle buses to town. Can take a while, because the airport's over 70km out of town.

Hi,

I was wondering about the monorail also as my flight gets in to Kuala Lumpur at about midnight but I obviously will have to pick up baggage etc. So, will they still run then or is it better to just get a taxi?
Thanks
