Anyone any recommendations where's best to stay? I'm heading over there in a couple of days time.

What's your budget?

It's quit pricey over there with the current exchange rate, and you don't get as good for your money as you do in Thailand. But there's a few reasonable places.

Yes mate i can, on the small island half way up the main beach look for a sign for Bintang chalets.

Its off the beach but really clean and run by an irish woman called Finola, whos an amazing cook btw, and a malaysian guy called joe.

Cool bar area and away from the noisy beach area. rooms are 40-50 rm a night. Expensive but thats a basic price on the perhentians. Cool library too.

Just look out for the monitor lizards, theyre fucking everywhere.

I stood on the tail of one of those once, near Tropical Reef huts on Besar. It just looked up at me as if to say "c*nt".

They drink seawater. Wankers.

Speaking to a few people in Cameron Highlands at the moment and they've been having problems getting accommodation sorted.

I'd prefer to stay on Kecil and got an OK budget not Mandarin Oriental style though. Think i've probably just going to head over there and hope for the best!

Yeah, it's not somewhere you need to worry about arranging before you get there. You'll always get something. You might need to spend more than planned for a night or two until something cheaper comes up, but you'll always get in somewhere on one of the islands.
