Can't comment yet on Malaysia, but in Thailand: Go to Ton Sai beach - i'd recommend staying at the reggae bar chill-out bungalows. 100B / night. The guys there are super chilled as is the atmosphere. If instead ur more for an ibiza stylee party, then head over to Ko Phi phi. If you want to dive, Ko Tao does some good diving courses - although, as you've still plenty of time, i'd consider doing a course at home b4 you go.

Following this, head up to Ko Pha Ngan for a full moon (Haat Rin beach) / black moon (Ban Tai beach) / half moon 9in the Jungle) / shiva moon (Ban Tai) party - depending on which part of the month you're around. I'd stay at Boom's Cafe bungalows - the owner Nok is lovely, really makes you feel like ur part of the family (she's in the Asia on a shoe string LP guide)!!

Then go to Bankok - Cambodia - (Don't fly out of here else you incur a charge of $25, reckon it might be the same for other parts of Asia too)) Cambodia = Siem Reap (with Angkor Wat) - Sihanoukville (Chill out beach time - like Thailand used to be!!) - Pnom Penh. Then catch a bus into Vietnam, then Fly into Laos and bus over to Chiang Mai / Rai. Not sure how ur planning on getting to Oz, but you may want to go back down through Thailand to Singapore and fly out of there. I came the opposite way, can give u more details if you like on places for Vietnam & Lao - oooo, tubing vang vieng - watch out for Mr Lao Lao tho - that guy's *happy* ;), but i reckon other folk will have good ideas too. Plus you can always do what i did and make it up as i went along!!! U'll have a fab time!! Bx
