Not sure about a witch visa. I think you have to prove you have at least 10 newts and frogs eyes in your bank and a return broom flight home.

How long you planning on being in china, I was there just on a normal tourist visa and got offered loads of teaching that didn't require proper visa's or TEFL or even a degree

haha I thought this thread was actually for a 'witch visa' what with halloween coming up soon and all...anyway

When I got my job the college sorted mine out for me - they got me a tourist visa and when i got to China they applied for my resident visa (Z visa). If you in the sticks somewhere it probably wont matter.

China are notorious for their visas - I've just had a look about a transit visa for a visit to Shanghai and despite the fact every country in Europe, USA, Oz, New Zealand and Canada are listed as not needing one. UK is...!!!

I'm sure you wont have any trouble with the visa though

If you are there for a year you will need to sort out your visa well in advance, as a school will have to 'invite' you over and inorder for this to happen you will need to take the documents they organise for you to a Chinese embassy outside China. Its a bit of a hassle, I had a lot of visa issues when I was there as I went over on a tourist visa, but this cannot be converted to a working visa while inside China.

There are other options though. If you are after a year placement teaching English, check out www.getzouing.com. Doing this program will give organise all your visas for you (in less time than you can do it yourself), and its a pretty awesome time.

If you need more information about visas, or the Get Zouing program send me an email.

Matt

P.S. Ensure you spell 'which' the right way when you are teaching!! haha.
