As part of our RTW trip we are landing in Bangkok and making our way overland to Singapore before heading on to oz.
After about 6 weeks volunteer work in northern thailand we have 6 weeks to make our way down to Singapore
is it possible/realistic to head north to see a bit Laos before heading south?
Iv heard its an amazing part of South East asia

We have a budget of approx £950-£1000 for the 6 weeks of travelling.

Any honest opinions ?
advice greatly appreciated!!

Laos was definitely one of my favourite places in SE Asia so if you can get over there I'd really recommend it. However, with just 6 weeks things will be tight. I reckon with a bit if planning you could do it though. If you volunteering work is already in Northern Thailand that will make life easier. You just need to catch a bus to the border town Chiang Khong, get the boat across the border to Huay Xai then catch the slow boat down to Luang Prabang which will take 2 days. A couple of days there then head down to Vang Vieng for tubing and chilling out then down to Vientiane from where you can get a bus back to Bangkok. I don't think you'll have time to fit in Southern Laos unless you found a way to extend your trip.
