Hey,

Just planning a 3 week holiday (all i could get off work) flying into and out of bangkok. Going back to samui and phangan for a week. But i really fancied spending the last 2 weeks doing as much as possible in southern Cambodia and Vietnam.

Does anyone have anywhere/thing which they highly recommend? I've been looking on the net but there just seems so much, and so little time. Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks!

Skip Samui and KPG.

Spend all your time in Cambodia and the mekong Area of Vietnam - plenty of beach in both places (Especially Sihanoukville in the former and Phu Quoc island in the latter), as well as both Pnomh Penh and Saigon being close to both areas, so its easy to travell to and from them.

3 weeks isn't a great deal of time to be trying to cover three countries.

Personally, I'd either do Thailand and Cambodia, or Thailand and Vietnam, not all three.

Sihanoukville in Cambodia is tres cool.

hey, sorry to butt into your post but i could do with some help on cambodia at the mo myself

I'm in phnom penh and was supposed to have about a month in cambodia but everyone i've met seems to be doing PP, angkor wat and then leaving, spending about 2 weeks here or less. So now im worried if i go to say kampot, ratankiri etc there'll be no one there. As a girl on my own i do kinda worry about going to places that not many other people go to. Also, i was gonna head to sihanoukville in the next day or two but a couple of girls told me there was just a couple of pretty rubbish beaches there and not much else to do. Are they right? Is it worth going?!

To be honest, part of me is thinking i should go to siem reap, battambang and then leave early and spend more time elsewhere. Will i really be missing out on a lot if i leave cambodia early?

Any help or advice would be gratefully received

Toni

I would definitely go to Sihanoukville - I spent a week there and didn't want to leave. It's great for relaxing. Monkey Republic is a good place to stay and if you are looking for a cheap night you can't do much better than go to the cinema showing films for $1 in the biggest comfiest chairs ever!
