 Law Placements

Hi
I am hoping in the next year or 2 to do a law placement abroad and Ghana seems a common place for companies to offer. Has anyone done a law placement abroad? The company Im most keen on is teaching and projects abroad - has anyone travelled to Ghana with them?
Thanks
Sarah

Hey

I went to india with TPA summer 2005 to do a medical placement. I have mixed feelings about the company. Some volunteers were placed in the middle of nowhere, by themselves and with no one who spoke a word of english- when they applied for the placement they were under the impression that they would be with other volunteers. I was lucky- there were a few volunteers where I was placed, however when I went home the girl who was left behind was by herself for one and a half months.

I would only recommend TPA to those with a bit of travelling experience behind them, because not all the local staff were helpful and you had to rely on the other volunteers a lot. Having said that, I did have a good time- just not as good as I was promised And it could be completely different for Ghana!

I'm going to Ghana in August 2007 for 5 weeks with madventurer- (to do nursing)- they seem to be more effecient.

:-)

travellers worldwide and ProWorld also offer law placements abroad. Im doing a law degree and a couple of people on my course did law placements abroad and werent overly impressed (ill try to find if they went with a company)Remember that if you are not a qualified lawyer there is a limited amount that you can actually do in a firm, it might be fairly boring and obviously wont count as experience in the UK.

Sorry if that is a bit negative but its what Iv been told and kinda makes sense.
