Hi all,

First post. I am going to be doing a bit of travelling for 4 months, South East Asia ---> Japan ----> Oz -----> South America.

I'm pretty confident about going most places on my todd, except for Japan. I will be arriving on the 8th Oct and leaving on the 14th and am looking to take in Tokyo ---- Kyoto areas., basically experience as much as i can, I have read a few posts and a few sites here and there.

How easy is Japan to get around, is everything signposted in Japanese, can you recommend any good hostels, should i be looking to learn a bit of the language before i arrive? Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

From what ive been told all the metro, trains, station etc are in English aswell, by English i mean the japanese word using roman caracters

Tokyo tube Map - http://www.tokyometro.jp/rosen/rosenzu/pdf/rosen_eng.pdf

All the mainline stationa/trains in japan have the sestinations and train numbers in japanise/roman characters aswell more info here http://www.japanrailpass.net/eng/en011.html

There a map here in english aswell for the main japan train stations http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2361.html

The trains are expensive (but quick) in japan but you can get very good night buses and even book them here http://travel.willer.co.jp/bus/pc/3/top/

Im there in november and am really looking forward to it
